Introduction to the course
This course is aimed at existing HETAS dry installers, that need to re-qualify their competence to comply with the competent person scheme rules set by the Department of Communities and Local Government.
Entry Requirements
An existing HETAS dry installer, with proof of registration. (Business and installer number will be checked with HETAS at time of booking).

- Principles of Combustion,
- Causes of Incomplete Combustion & Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.
- Appliance types, Operating Principles & Selection.
- Legislation, Regulations & Industry guidance.
- Flue system & Ventilation requirements for solid fuel appliances.
- Dry solid fuel appliance; Sizing, Selection, Installation, Commissioning & Decommissioning.
- Dry solid fuel appliance service & maintenance.
How is the course assessed
Multiple choice and desk based activity question papers; open book examination 100% to pass. Two attempts must get 75% or more for second attempt.
