Introduction to the course
If you are experienced in initial verification of electrical installations, regularly report on different types of existing installations or need refresher training covering both single and three phase supplies, then this could be the course for you.
This course will allow you to perform Periodic Inspection, Testing & Certification of electrical installations; expanding the range of work you are qualified to carry out and building on the 2394 – 01 Initial Verification qualification.
This course will demonstrate a level of competence that will allow you to verify new jobs and rewires that you have installed yourself, as well as existing installs carried out by others to ensure they meet building regulation requirements.
Entry Requirements
All candidates should have basic knowledge of electrical science and experience of different types of electrical installations, wiring systems and testing (limited time is allocated during the course for practical testing, candidates should posses these skills as they are required for the practical assessment) candidates should also possess the C&G 2382 (Requirements for Electrical Installations) qualification, and have good working knowledge of technical terminology, GN3 and GS38

- The completion of the Electrical Installation Condition Report and Supporting Documentation
- Requirements for completing the periodic inspection of electrical installations
- The differences between periodic inspection and initial verification
- Requirements for the safe testing of electrical installations which have been placed in service
- Requirements for testing before circuits are energised
- Requirements for testing energised installations
- Understand and interpret test results
- Requirements for the completion of electrical installation condition reports and associated documentation
- How to confirm safety of system and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning
- How to produce a condition report with recording observations and classifications

How is the course assessed
- Unit 301: Principles, practices and legislation for the periodic inspection, testing & condition reporting of electrical installations (Online Exam, taken at the end of the course) Please note this unit is already held if candidate possesses C&G 2394-01
- Unit 302: Principles, practices and legislation for the periodic inspection, testing & condition reporting of electrical installations (Written Exam, taken on preset dates, set by C&G)
- Unit 303: Principles, practices and legislation for the periodic inspection, testing & condition reporting of electrical installations (Practical Assignment, taken at the end of the course)
Upon successful completion of all course units, you will be awarded a full 2395-01 certificate.
What Next
Candidates can progress to the Level 4 Design and Verification of Electrical Installations (C&G 2396); an additional qualification and skill set which will allow you to expand the range of work you are competent to undertake.
